Dr. Giessl is Past Secretary (2002 and 2004)  for the EMDR International Association.

Along with Dr. Irene Giessl, she is Co-Coordinator of the Greater Cincinnati EMDRIA Regional Meetings.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Irene B. Giessl is a licensed psychologist in private practice. Her Master's Degree and Doctorate are in Clinical Counseling from the University of Cincinnati. She is a graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Cincinnati Training Program, as well as a Third Year Post-graduate Training Program in Couples, Families, and Intimate Systems of the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland.

Dr. Giessl has received EMDR Level I and Level II Training from Dr. Francine Shapiro, developer of the method. She is on the Facilitator and Consultant Staff of the Pacific Grove, California EMDR Institute. She travels nationally to facilitate Institute workshops, as well as offers private consultations to area therapists and their patients. Dr. Giessl is also co-coordinator of the Greater Cincinnati EMDRIA Regional meeting.

During her career covering more than thirty years, Dr. Giessl has worked extensively with trauma, anxiety, bereavement, and addictions in individual and group settings. She has experience with critical incident and emergency services in addition to teaching college-level courses to traditional and forensic groups. Her workshop presentations span adolescent to adult populations, including stress management, communication, conflict resolution, humor, wellness, and decision-making topics.

In addition to her Psychologist License and EMDR certification, Dr. Giessl is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). She belongs to the American Psychological Association, Ohio Psychological Association, Cincinnati Academy of Professional Psychology, Cincinnati Psychological Association, EMDR International Association, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and is a diplomate and member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
