She served as Treasurer (2003) , President (June, 2004 to December, 2005), and Past President (2006). She is currently on the Board of Directors of the EMDRIA Foundation. Professional Biography Dr. Barbara J. Hensley is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in private practice. Her Master's Degree, Advanced Graduate Degree, and Doctorate are in Clinical Counseling from the University of Cincinnati. She is a graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Cincinnati Training Program. Dr. Hensley also has undergraduate degrees from Miami University of Ohio (BA, English) and University of Cincinnati (BS, Accounting). She also worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 30 years, retiring in 2003 from the position of Network Administration Supervisor. Dr. Hensley has received EMDR Level I and Level II Training from Dr. Francine Shapiro, developer of the method. She is on the Facilitator and Consultant Staff of the Pacific Grove, California EMDR Institute. She travels nationally to facilitate Institute workshops, as well as offers private consultations to area therapists and their patients. Dr. Hensley is also co-coordinator of the Greater Cincinnati EMDRIA Regional Meetings (GCERM). Dr. Hensley works with a variety of specialized client populations in both individual and group settings. These include children, adolescents, seniors, alcoholics, inmates, victims of childhood sexual abuse, disaster victims, and clients suffering from phobias, panic attacks, and anxiety. Her primary specialty is working with the victims of past and recent traumatic events. In addition to her Counselor's License and EMDR Certification and Consultation status, Dr. Hensley belongs to American Counseling Association (ACA), Ohio Counseling Association (OCA), Greater Cincinnati Counseling Association, EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF), and is a diplomate and member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (AAETS). |
